The key to success in spirituality is inner determination

Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche: The key to success in any endeavour is inner determination. If you are determined to be rich, starting out with even a small sum you can end up a millionaire. 

If you are determined to study, in time you can become very learned. 

If you are determined to meditate, you will eventually find a way to free yourself entirely for the practice of Dharma. 

It is up to you to choose the right goal. 

Through the practice of Dharma, like an invincible king conquering his ancestral adversary, you will overcome once and for all the ego-clinging that has so tormented you for innumerable lifetimes.
